Sprinkler System Winterization
| Fall is upon us
once again and it is time to winterize your sprinkler
system. Our goal is to winterize your system with
as little inconvenience to you as possible. Please check the chart below and call now to set up your winterization. Appointments will be handled on a first call, first served basis. Keep in mind; freeze damage around the Wichita area can happen as early as late October through early November. Countryside cannot be held responsible for freeze damage. If weather forecasts indicate it is going to freeze before your system is winterized, there are some preventative measures you can take to attempt to prevent damage to your system. First, make sure the water tap to the system is turned off. You can then drain the backflow device by turning a bleed screw on the bottom of most PVB units. You can also purchase an insulated backflow protector ($135.00 + tax delivered). If you do not have an insulated backflow protector, you can wrap a blanket around the PVB and cover it over with a plastic trashbag as a temporary measure. *NOTE*: These options are not 100% guaranteed to protect your system during a freeze; winterization is still necessary to protect your system over the winter. The gamble is to schedule your winterization before freezing weather occurs, but late enough so that you will not need to water again this year. If you turn your system back on to take advantage of warmer weather, there will be additional charges if you require us to winterize your system again. For the Winterization process, the technician will need to have access to your controller and your tap to the sprinkler system will need to be shut down. If you have an indoor shut off, you will need to shut it off before our crews arrive or you will need to be there so it can be shut off at that time. Appointments will be morning/(8am to noon) or afternoon/(noon to dark), Monday through Friday. Our technicians can call you ahead 15-20 minutes in advance if you will be somewhere else and need to meet them on the property. If you have not already pre-paid for this years winterization service, an invoice will be left for you at the time the service is performed. If Countryside installed your system this year, please remember that we must provide the winterization for your system for you to maintain your warranty. Find your zip code listed on the chart below. Then check the calendar to see what days we will be in your area. Call us at 838-3375 and let us know which of those days you would like to have your winterization performed. Appointments are handled on a first call, first served basis. |
