First Quarter News Letter

Valued Customers,

We would like to take the opportunity to thank ALL our valued customers. Whether you have been with us for 30 years or are new to the family this year, we couldn’t do it without all of you and we greatly appreciate all the positive feedback and constructive criticism. Please let us know if you ever have any questions, comments or concerns with anything that we are doing. Thanks!

As most of you know, we are experiencing what seems to be another “typical” Kansas winter. It seems we no longer get any precipitation between Halloween & Easter and that can wreak havoc on our industry! What’s unfortunate during this time period, is that most of your irrigation systems are “winterized.” I know it can be an inconvenience, but if you can find the time on a nice weekend and get that hose out of the garage, hook up a lawn tractor or anything you have and get some water on your yard. Any trees, especially younger, would GREATLY benefit from having a hose placed at their base and turned on a slow trickle for 3 or more hours. The more you are able to do over the winter the better the yard will look this spring.

ESPECIALLY during a drought like we’re experiencing, it is always beneficial to root feed trees once or twice a year. Root feeding promotes healthy growth and can help prevent other problems by keeping the tree as healthy as possible. Crabgrass has been germinating earlier and earlier each year the last few years. If you see us out early this spring we are putting down the crabgrass control for the season. Crabgrass typically germinates when the soil temperature hits 55 degrees. Please get that pre-emergent watered in as soon as you can after we do the application. On top of pre-emergent for your lawn we also offer landscape bed applications. These can greatly reduce the number of weeds that
germinate throughout the season. A full program consists of 3 applications, spring, summer & fall. Call today for a free quote!

Now is the time to think about getting ahead of scale on your trees or euonymus! During the dormant phase we apply an oil to suffocate the insects and their eggs nesting in branches. Susceptible trees include oaks, maples, & redbuds. Euonymus shrubs also are very susceptible. Call today for a free quote!

Now is the time to start thinking about getting those landscape beds cleaned up for the spring. Whether it is leaf cleanups, shrub trimming, or ornamental grass trimming we can handle all your needs. Mulch is also recommended in the spring to help keep plants insulated and retain water throughout the season. New mulch is also very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Call today for a free quote!
It’s almost time to get your irrigation systems started up for the season. We expect to get things going sooner this year based on how dry it has been the last several months. Starting things early can simply mean wrapping your backflow with a heavy blanket and trash bag to keep it insulated. Please call today to get your irrigation system start-up scheduled. If you do not currently have an irrigation system and would like a free quote feel free to give us a call!!

Don’t forget our refer a friend program! Each time someone signs up for a full lawn program and gives us your name as a reference we will send you a $40 coupon. EACH TIME!

Thanks for your business!
